LINSANITY FEVER

Ipinaskil ni TheWriterInMe sa 7:43 AM
For the past week, I can never open my Facebook and Tumblr account without comments, status or links that is about Jeremy Lin.  But I must say it is on twitter that really introduce me to Lin. I open my twitter account and I can see him trending both in the country and worldwide together with his team. But on the hiatus of everything, I was really not interested.  I just read the tweets and comments but not watch video-clip or the whole game. It is when I come to read article about him that really drew me into knowing what is behind that LINSANITY fever that is going on.
So what is it about him that made him a standout?
*he was a bench warmer until that game versus the Nets. It was said in an article that he was just used because the team has no choice since the team has a lot of injured star player. Guess it was really a lucky break but until then they didn't know that it was the born of  a star player in the making.

* he was an Asian American player. He was hailed as the first Asian American to play in the league which is why the Yellow Mamba tag line is popularized. It was a bit racist in a sense but to think that Kobe is a top caliber player and is known as the Black Mamba, I guess its still count as a compliment.

*he was a Harvard graduate who hold a diploma for Economics. As an interview host said to Lin, not everybody graduate from Harvard. It is I guess was one of  the main reason for him being a stand out right now. He is the first Harvard graduate who plays for the league in 57 years , 60 years in estimation which was really historic.

*his story to fame is a best-seller. The tag line Linderella was also popularized because of his beginning of just sleeping on his brother and teammate's couch. The humble beginning of the star made him a crowd favorite.
BUT WHY IS HE A STAND OUT FOR ME??
From this point, I'm really biased on my words. Fandom is what I call it.
*He was such a humble player
I'm not much of a very basketball fanatic that I watched every basketball game or know all the player in the league. I'm actually more of a biased watcher, I only know the star players and much I only root for the Lakers but because of him , New York Knicks just got another fan. I even told my friends that if Lakers and Knicks will play again I'll be rooting for the Kn
icks. That is much of a convert I am because of Lin.
Lin was such a humble player who credited everything he have done to God our creator. He credited his coach and all the coaching staff. He credited each player in his team. He credited his fans and the crowd. He don't even mention his name or his plays but just them. I don't ever recall a player in the NBA being talked about because of being humble. In a league where commercialism is dominant, where trash talking is evident, where most of the time its always the ME in the player's mind, the kind of player Lin has displayed in such a breath of fresh air in that scene.

*He's an Asian
In my past post in the Australian Open, I have been very open that I really biased Asian people since I'm an Asian. I guess because there is that thrill and certain pride that you feel because you have the same race with him. I have nothing against other race, I have quite a number of idol and biased from different race. And let's face it , one of the greatest reason he's such a big item right now is because of his heritage. It's not like everyday that you can see Asian people entering the NBA. After Yao Ming, its now Lin. It was such a long wait but I guess it's worth it.

He's an Economics Degree Holder from Harvard.
Having a degree an Economic degree is one thing. But having an Economics Degree from Harvard is another. Harvard is such a prestigious school that really holds a high standard when it comes to education, and Lin being an alumni of that school is really an accomplishment. I totally agree with him when he answered that he really treasure being a Harvard graduate and being an NBA superstar. It was like hitting two birds with one stone scenario which is why his story is reader snatcher. But above all, I admire people who really values education. The hardship, struggles and sacrifices makes an accomplishment sweeter. I remember a commercial line here which says SMART is the NEW SEXY..haha

He is a religious person.
After reading that he wants to become a pastor if he didn't succeed in the pro league I really didn't believe it.  I can never picture him as such, but after hearing his post game interview, watching his other video clip and reading a particular article, I guess I can see him just as that. I was really impressed that he really thank and praise God in whatever interview he has. I think it was such an impressive move for him because he use his fame to spread the love and the faith. I was partially humiliated after reading an article that talked about his faith because the humility and the lesson of faith was such a knock out. The everyday struggle, the pride, that we have everyday was also there in his story but then he realized and changed his perspective which I think was an eye opener for anyone who listen. I salute his parents for a job well done on raising a decent and inspiring man.

But above all, I think I become a fan girl because he depicts the person of a simple man with an inspiring story. His rise to fame was never easy. His struggles can be experience by ordinary man which makes him a reachable person. Overcoming those life obstacle was with simple philosophy in life and leaving everything to the creator make him the big man he is right now. Whatever happen, his mark and inspiration is now embedded . I will still be rooting for him whatever the result of his next plays would be. LINSANITY WILL CONTINUE :)

Suffering produces Character, and Character produces Hope, and Hope does not disappoint us
